A while ago a wrote an article for the November issue of the Windows IT-Pro Magazine about migrating ConfigMgr 2007 to ConfigMgr 2012 in ten steps. The article gives you a highlevel overview about the migration process that comes with the migration from ConfigMgr 2007 to ConfigMgr 2012. As you know a migrating from Configuration Manager 2007 to Configuration Manager 2012 is a side by side migration. Using the Migration Feature in Configuration Manager 2012 migrates almost all of your objects from Configuration Manager 2007 to Configuration Manager 2012. When migrating objects with a source, like packages, the source is not automatically migrated to a new location. Coretech created a freeware community tool called the “Coretech Package Source Changer 0.3.0.0” that will help you change the location of the package source. Let’s see how we can use this nice tool, that is already around for a while.

The first Community Evaluation Program session of 2012 is scheduled for the 18th of January (9:00 AM Pacific). This session will be about the deployment of Configuration Manager 2012 by Microsoft IT, the largest deployment of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager until now.

 Today Wally Mead posted two links to new Configuration Manager 2012 TechNet Virtual Labs in the Configuration Manager 2012 beta forum. Last week I already posted a link to a TechNet Virtual Lab build with the Beta2 version of Configuration Manager 2012, the two new labs are build with the Release Candidate of Configuration Manager 2012. So you are now able play with Configuration Manager 2012 Release Candidate without having to building your own lab environment.

A couple of days ago the Configuration Manager Physical to Virtual Migration Toolkit release candidate was released. The Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit is especially designed for Configuration Manager 2007 environments where there are branch offices with Configuration Manager site server hardware that needs to be reused while migrating to Configuration Manager 2012.
