After a full, interesting, awesome and very busy MVP Summit in Seattle this year I flew with many other MVPs to Minneapolis for the Midwest Management Summit. The Midwest Management Summit is organized by the Minnesota System Center User Group with the help of many volunteers, in other words a real community event!
And what a nice event it is! Like last year very laid back and after the session is done there is no rush to make place for the following speaker, no the attendees have the option to have a Q&A for 45 minutes.
With five sessions on the schedule it was a busy but great week. The Monday morning started with an EMS birds of a feather, how great is it to see so many people at 7am! Straight after the BoF I was part of the session of Eric Orman, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft and part of the Azure RemoteApp Product Group and Kenny Buntinx. This session was called “All things Microsoft Remote Desktop current, future, EMS and Configuration Manager integrated.”, also the demo of the Azure RemoteApp integration with Configuration Manager was shown.
Next my session with Mirko Colemberg was planned, Mirko and I presented a session about the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite and how to configure it. We covered the features of Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune and Azure RMS. Download the slides here.
Tuesday afternoon Mirko Colemberg, Chris Nackers and me were up for our session about Securing your data and apps with the Enterprise Mobility Suite. Again we focused on the three major products but now especially on the Azure Application Proxy, SSO in Azure Active Directory to secure access to apps, MAM and MDM in Intune to secure the data, apps and mobile devices and Azure RMS to secure the data itself. Download the slides here.
The last day of the conference was a busy one, two sessions were scheduled for me and an ask the experts session. First Chris Nackers and me were up to discuss the manageability options for Mac OS X (OS 10) devices with System Center Configuration Manager (vnext) and Microsoft Intune. Download the slides here.
Straight after the Mac OS X support via the native options in Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune my session with Parallels was planned. Together with Danny Knox from Parallels we talked about the Parallels Mac Management plugin for Configuration Manager, our session was called “Deploy Mac OS X with SCCM! Wait! What?????” Yes we showed how you are able to deploy a Mac OS X Operating System with Configuration Manager 2012. Download the slides here.
Last session of the week for me was a EMS Ask the Experts forum where we have tried to help the attendees by answering their questions.
Again the Midwest Management Summit was superb and very well organized by the Minnesota System Center User Group. Below you see a picture of the Welcome reception with the user group leaders from all over the world that were attending or speaking at MMS. A nice bunch of friends if you ask me.
You know what? The Midwest Management Summit will be back at the Mall Of America from May the 17th until May the 19th! Secure your ticket here!
Hope to see you in May at the Mall Of America!!!

Thanks for coming out to MMS! I really appreciate the effort that all of the MVP’s make every day posting great information, and then traveling to do these sessions. MMS was awesome this year! See you next year! – @gwblok
